Kira is an early career professional in two seemingly unrelated, yet increasingly complementary fields: public health and performance arts. She takes on various roles in efforts to tell stories that promote health, knowledge-uptake and sometimes just a good giggle. Through her work with Arts Health BC, she has been collaborating with Hello Cool World showcasing what arts & health looks like across the province. She is also bringing her skills as a voice over actor to our new projects!
A graduate of the UBC Masters of Public Health program, Kira has spent 5 years with the Provincial Health Services Authority working in occupational health & safety and mental health promotion. She has completed contract work for the UBC Department of Family Practice, the UBC Collaborating Centre for Prison Health & Education, and the BC Centre for Disease Control. Since 2013, she has worked as a project manager with Arts Health Network Canada, a registered charity working to promote and facilitate the development and growth of arts and health initiatives across Canada. Her education and experiences thus far have culminated in a strong appreciation for the importance of safe environments, meaningful relationships and opportunities for individuals to flourish in both their personal and professional lives. Healthcare interests include: mental health promotion, stress management, perinatal mental illness, community based participatory research, prison health and community reintegration.
Kira also works as a professional voice actor and singer in Vancouver, lending her speaking and singing voice to animated movies, cartoons, and radio. Credits include Leap Frog Letter Factory Adventures, Littlest Pet Shop, Maya the Bee, Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 & various roles in Mattel’s Barbie movies. In 2014, Kira was nominated for a UBCP/ACTRA award in the category of "Best Voice". Before jumping into the wonderful world of cartoons, Kira worked as a lead singer & dancer in Broadway-style production shows aboard Holland America Line cruise ships.
