Kat on set in Kamloops

is it March already? We've been so busy that the time seems to be flying by. Kat and Bella just returned from a second shoot for the I Have Immunity campaign in Kamloops (to your left, you can see Kat warming up on set!), and I finally got around to giving away our first prize in the I Have Immunity contest: a $50 gift card to Shoppers Drug Mart. Congratulations to our winner Gail, from Lillooet!

We'll be giving away three more $50 gift cards, so if you haven't entered the contest hurry up and fill out our survey, because I'll be doing another draw on Wednesday. Your feedback on our ideas so far is invaluable in helping us create a campaign that works for British Columbians, and we've had some really thoughtful comments so far. If we haven't heard from you yet, we're eager to know what you think!

Photoshoot at Sugar Studios!

By Michelle Reid On February 27, 2011 | 0 Comments

This past week the Hello Cool World team has been spending a lot of time at Sugar Studios, working with families from around Greater Vancouver on the "I Have Immunity" campaign to promote vaccination for British Columbians. We think the results are going to be amazing, and we were glad to have the opportunity to hear from real people about why vaccination is so important to them.

Shooting in Sugar StudiosThe first focus of this campaign is the HPV vaccine, which protects against the strains of HPV that cause 70% of cervical cancers. Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women under 45, and every year 6000 women in BC are treated for pre-cancerous cervical changes caused by HPV.

Hello Cool World's campaign with Options For Sexual Health hits the airwaves! Watch for our ad featuring full frontal condom nudity on the late night time slots on CBC and Global starting today, Feb 21! It's also on our site: www.ThatsSoSexy.com

That's So Sexy

The two versions of the 30 second spot will be on CBC during Ghost Whisperer airing 12 pm to 1am until March 14 and on Global until March 5 during their late night rotation 11:30pm - 3:30am airing after the night news and during the re-runs of ET, and ET Canada (may also include late night movies, PGA golf and Family Guy).

This ad was first created a few years ago, Directed by David Ng, with funding from The Vancouver Foundation & Hello Cool World, with Non-profit Partner Options for Sexual Health. It was created with the help of DOP & Mentor Paul Lang, Video In Studios, The Hive, Terry Fairfield and featuring the sultry voice over of non-other than my niece Amanda Dodds! This 'anniversary edition' was remixed just before David left for Cape Town and grad school, and used some of the recent photos from the Opt photoshoot. (You may have seen the bus ad around down featuring a couple making out in the clinic waiting room with the tag - "We've Got A Room For You"!)

This campaign is celebrating 10 years of putting sex in advertising where it belongs by Hello Cool World and Options For Sexual Health. We turned 10 this week, and Opt begins a year of celebrations for their 50th Anniversary!

Does your daughter have immunity? Help us create a new health campaign to protect your family and community!

By Michelle Reid On February 04, 2011 | 0 Comments

Are you a parent with a daughter who is between grades 6 and 11?

Hello Cool World is looking for advocates for healthy families to participate in an information sharing session in Vancouver.

We know you’re passionate about supporting health for your loved ones—that’s why LACE Campaign was such a huge success! Together we worked to promote women’s health, culminating in hundreds of women from all around the province taking control of their health and getting a Pap test during Pap Awareness Week 2010 in October.

We were so glad to learn that there’s massive support around BC for initiatives to promote preventative health measures like Pap tests—so we’re launching a new campaign with ImmunizeBC to spread the word about the value of immunizations: I Have Immunity.

We’re starting off with a focus on one of the newest immunizations available, which prevents infection by Human Papililomavirus (HPV). More than 80% of women will be infected with strains of HPV during their lifetime. Some HPV infections lead to cervical cancer, from which 50 women in BC die each year. The vaccine protects against the strains of HPV responsible for 70% of cervical cancer cases.
