Just in case you've been out of the loop, here's a friendly reminder about Opt's 50th Anniversary Gala & Celebration! This event is a fundraiser for Options for Sexual Health celebrating half a century as BC's largest non-profit provider of sexual health information and services.
With 2010 wrapping up quickly, this event is inching closer and closer and to make sure this fundraiser is a success, we need your help spreading the word...
The Facebook Event is up and running so if you haven't already done so, tell us that you're attending and be sure to invite all your friends too. If you have a blog or any other web presence, you can help us attract some more attention by putting up one of these buttons and linking to http://www.optionsforsexualhealth.org/catalog/anniversary
Bella is the newest addition to Hello Cool World, enlisting for the cause at the end of 2010. A graduate of BCIT's Broadcast Communications for TV program, she's worked in all aspects of production and has a knack for new media & technology.
Hot on the heels of the latest photoshoot we've done for Opt -- and fueled by the fun of our own Hello Cool World holiday party last night -- I'm excited to let folks now that they can get tickets to Opt's Ready For Pleasure benefit Gala NOW at a special price for christmas (or insert holiday of choice!). I've bought mine! Fishnet stocking stuffers anyone? The event is a Valentine's eve extravaganza you won't want to miss!
Hello Cool World is co-hosting this Gala, proceeds to Opt. We are jointly celebrating out anniversaries. As Opt becomes the sexiest 50 yr-old around, we turn 10. Stay tuned for more about our plans to mark this milestone, and read on for details of the party on February 13, 2011.
Katherine Dodds AKA "Kat" is the founder of Good Company Communications and HelloCoolWorld.com. Trained in renegade advertising & branding through her work with Adbusters in the '90s, Kat's early induction into the possibilities of the web-world was inspired by the term hypertext, which she immediately found comforting. She is dedicated to cause-related communication and to the development and use of tools that promote democratic processes.
This month's POV magazine features the man everyone is talking about... David Suzuki discusses the award-winning documentary which celebrates his life and career: Force of Nature. The film is elegantly reviewed by Adam Nayman and includes an interesting interview with director Sturla Gunnarsson about the creative process, his collaborative effort with David Suzuki on his Legacy lecture, and how directing the film has made him a less cynical person.
It's World AIDS Day -- We've been working on issues of HIV and STI prevention since we formed the company on Feb 14 of 2001.
Still from "By My Name"
Some of the work we've been most proud of is what we've done with Chee Mamuk (the Aboriginal Program of the STI Division of BC Centre For Disease Control).Last year we made a film with Nak'azdli youth in Ft.St James as part of the Star in your own Stories workshop series. You can see the video called "By My Name" on our YouthHaveThePower Website.
We're very excited about some new projects we'll be working on with Chee Mamuk in the new year. We're very proud of the work they do and contratulate them again on their recent "AccolAIDS' award for innovation.
Colette joined Hello Cool World team back in 2003 and was a key organizer for The Corporation and The Take's grassroots outreach efforts across North America.
After being inspired by the organizing and awareness building potential of the internet and social issue films, she returned to school to study Communications and sharpen her skills.
Once graduating, Colette returned to Hello Cool World once again as a grassroots campaign consultant. She is now the Director of Distribution for Hello Cool World's new fair trade distribution arm.
