Summer Update! Hello Cool World's Toronto HQ; Our Uts'am Witness Book heading to print!

By Katherine Dodds On June 28, 2013 | 0 Comments

HELLO COOL WORLD CHATTING UP OUR UTS'AM WITNESS BOOK AT OUR MEET & GREET, & TWEET EVENT IN TORONTO!

We are in the midst of doing the final edits, and it is so thrilling to see our book, 'Picturing Transformation, Nexw-áyantsut' come to life and to know that it will be going to print in a matter of weeks! The book features art works and photos by Nancy Bleck from the last 15 years, i.e. before, during and after the Uts'am Witness Project took place. As I review the essay we've been working on for years now, I've been reflecting on how much this project accomplished and how life-changing it was for so many. On the very first Witness weekend in 1997, all those who made the journey to Sims Creek witnessed the Squamish Nation Assertion of Aboriginal Title document. In that first art show at the Roundhouse later that year, Nancy's 48-foot long banner piece had text from that document, and panorama images from the summer of Witness Ceremonies. the images above and below are details from that banner peice.

In our neck of the woods what had been known in 1997 as "Tree Farm License 38" and slated for complete clear-cutting, has been restored to its traditional name of Nexw-áyantsut, meaning 'Place of Transformation'. As part of the Squamish Nation Sacred Land Use Plan, it now is forever protected.

This book is a document and a testament to the journey that got us there together.

That's So Sexy Ads launch TODAY on CBC and Global

By Katherine Dodds On February 21, 2011 | 0 Comments

Hello Cool World's campaign with Options For Sexual Health hits the airwaves! Watch for our ad featuring full frontal condom nudity on the late night time slots on CBC and Global starting today, Feb 21! It's also on our site: www.ThatsSoSexy.com

That's So Sexy

The two versions of the 30 second spot will be on CBC during Ghost Whisperer airing 12 pm to 1am until March 14 and on Global until March 5 during their late night rotation 11:30pm - 3:30am airing after the night news and during the re-runs of ET, and ET Canada (may also include late night movies, PGA golf and Family Guy).

This ad was first created a few years ago, Directed by David Ng, with funding from The Vancouver Foundation & Hello Cool World, with Non-profit Partner Options for Sexual Health. It was created with the help of DOP & Mentor Paul Lang, Video In Studios, The Hive, Terry Fairfield and featuring the sultry voice over of non-other than my niece Amanda Dodds! This 'anniversary edition' was remixed just before David left for Cape Town and grad school, and used some of the recent photos from the Opt photoshoot. (You may have seen the bus ad around down featuring a couple making out in the clinic waiting room with the tag - "We've Got A Room For You"!)

This campaign is celebrating 10 years of putting sex in advertising where it belongs by Hello Cool World and Options For Sexual Health. We turned 10 this week, and Opt begins a year of celebrations for their 50th Anniversary!

Pleasure The Focus Of New Ad Campaign and Sexy Summer Kissing Contest!

By Katherine Dodds On July 08, 2010 | 0 Comments

Just as we are about to choose a winner for our LACE contest, we are pleased to announce that in celebration of the new bus ad we created with Options For Sexual Health we are launching a Sexy Summer Kissing Contest! Details on how to enter below.

Our new ad campaign "We've Got a Room For You" is a cheekier take on the bus ad we have created before to advertise the 1-800 SEX SENSE info line. What's more it's on nearly all transit buses in the province! Reflecting our philosophy of 'pleasure management" we are creating an effective alternative to just say no messaging. It's sure to attract attention with a young couple making out in a clinic waiting room (based on a true story set in the BC CDC's STI clinic!)

Opt’s 1 800 SEX SENSE Line, a toll-free in BC phone and email service, is positioned as a great way to hook up with a clinic or ask a burning sexual health question. Check out our Ad!  We also made a behind the scenes video about the making of the ad.

Safe Vibe Hits The Streets!

By Katherine Dodds On March 04, 2010 | 0 Comments

Well, as the whole world knows, there was a very big party last week in Vancouver,  our humble headquarters are in the midst of it all. There's a history of problems with drink spiking and drug and alcohol faciliated sexual assault when big events like this happen. SafeVibe is a movement for everyone who wants to keep predators out of the bars and put an end to sexual assault. The more people who actively get involved (men, women, youth, everyone!), the closer we will be to making social change a reality.

A New Year to Work For Justice and Peace

By Katherine Dodds On January 01, 2010 | 0 Comments
It's a time of reflection on where the need is, and on what one can possibly do to have any kind of impact. I prepared for the new year by having a donations frenzy yesterday afternoon for a number  of alternative media venues that I regularly read. (List and links at the end of this blog). And thank you to all you HelloCoolWorld.com supporters that donated to GiveSomethingBig. If you missed the chance to send holiday cards, you can donate to Inter Pares anytime! We think they are worth supporting.

Now my thoughts my heart goes out to Gaza.
