Surviving Progress Now Playing in Vancouver and Toronto!

By Bella Sie On December 01, 2011 | 0 Comments

Surviving Progress

SURVIVING PROGRESS is a stunning new feature documentary that connects the financial collapse, growing inequity, and the Wall Street oligarchy, with future technology, sustainability, and the fate of civilization. Inspired by Ronald Wright’s bestseller A Short History of Progress, filmmakers Mathieu Roy and Harold Crooks dig deep into human nature and patterns of history to challenge and redefine the very idea of progress.

For the last four years Mark Achbar has been the executive producer along with Vancouver colleague Betsy Carson on 10 documentaries made possible by the box office success of the Corporation.

As Mark says:

"In light of the Occupy movement, that this film — 6 years in the making — is being released NOW is some kind of miracle of timing!"

Please help us spread the word as it's so important for films to do well on opening weekend in order to stay in theatres!!

Hello Cool World Heading to Bioneers next weekend - Our work with The Corporation Spawns New Distribution Model

By Katherine Dodds On October 08, 2011 | 0 Comments

A MOVIE GUIDE TO OCCUPY WALL STREET! The Corporation one of the Top Ten Films that explain the birth of the movement.

As Colette and I head next weekend to the Bioneers Conference, we are working our business vision, inspired largely by our decade-long involvement with the creation and marketing of The Corporation film. Follow the converstation on Twitter: @CorporationFilm.

Hello Cool World is excited to be expanding the services we offer to folks with a cause, including what we are calling "Fairer Trade" distribution and campaigns. We had our start with The Corporation, and now MORE than ever we realize how important our work with this film is, and what an influence it has --just yesterday, Reuters "A Movie Guide to Occupy Wall Street"  listed The Corporation in the TOP TEN films that 'explain the birth of a movement."  This is very fitting as it comes just as we were working on outreach for our focus-testing of the new shorter cut of the film in three parts for high school students that we are the distributor for. We will give a higher return than is typical to the filmmakers, and we will use our profits to sustain the movement to get the film in the hands of the next generation.

The Hello Cool World distribution team travelled to Victoria just over a week ago
to promote the educational versions of 65_RedRoses and The Corporation at the BC
Library Conference (April 7-8).
Our distribution coordinator, Jorge, arrived in Victoria on Friday morning, and
after picking up a large bouquet of Fair Trade red roses, he set up a table at the
conference’s trade show. The conference took place at the Victoria Convention
Centre, next to the Empress Hotel, overlooking Victoria’s inner harbour.
The Hello Cool World booth provided information to conference participants about
our distribution campaigns, and informed library executives about how to acquire
educational versions of Hello Cool World’s educational titles for their collections.
Conference participants were eager to know about our films, which gave Jorge a
perfect chance to spread the word about our fair trade distribution practices and
our exciting campaigns!

As the newest member of the the Hello Cool World distribution team, I travelled to Victoria just over a week ago to promote the educational versions of 65_RedRoses and The Corporation at the BC Library Conference (April 7-8).
