Surviving Progress Now Playing in Vancouver and Toronto!

By Bella Sie On December 01, 2011 | 0 Comments

Surviving Progress

SURVIVING PROGRESS is a stunning new feature documentary that connects the financial collapse, growing inequity, and the Wall Street oligarchy, with future technology, sustainability, and the fate of civilization. Inspired by Ronald Wright’s bestseller A Short History of Progress, filmmakers Mathieu Roy and Harold Crooks dig deep into human nature and patterns of history to challenge and redefine the very idea of progress.

For the last four years Mark Achbar has been the executive producer along with Vancouver colleague Betsy Carson on 10 documentaries made possible by the box office success of the Corporation.

As Mark says:

"In light of the Occupy movement, that this film — 6 years in the making — is being released NOW is some kind of miracle of timing!"

Please help us spread the word as it's so important for films to do well on opening weekend in order to stay in theatres!!

#SMWhealth Wrap Up!

By Michelle Reid On September 29, 2011 | 0 Comments

What a great party! Thank you to everyone who came to eat, drink, learn, and discuss with us! We had a wonderful time. Besides the worldwide livestreaming audience, more than sixty people RSVPed to our event (and a few extra dropped in to say hello!)

We heard from four of our wonderful campaign partners: Ian Roe of I Have Immunity; Nimisha Mukerji of 65_RedRoses; Lisa Despins of the LACE Campaign; and Cindy Masaro of Dating Confidential. Each of them spoke about the value of social media in their work, whether it's supporting advocates, telling stories, or sharing information.

The audience at #SMWhealth

We are fortunate at Hello Cool World to have such an amazing team with diverse talents and backgrounds, but connecting at #SMWhealth with such an array of innovative, dedicated people who are all integrating social media into their health promotion activities was truly inspiring. I feel a passion energy for the work that Hello Cool World does because for the first time I was face-to-face with the members of the growing community of tech-savvy health advocates. I'm glad to know that there are so many of us, and that the nature of our work with social media allows us to communicate and share with an ever-expanding network.

It's TODAY! Looking forward to being at our LACE Campaign table as part of the "EXPOsed" event at the Underwear Affair to cheer on our LACE OFF team of Michelle, Lizzy and Carmen. Here's Michelle sporting one of our LACE  team shirts! C'mon down and check out our table. (Rumour has it there may be doughnuts!)

Where: Seaforth Armoury, Burrard Street at West 1st Ave.
Exposed  3:30pm - 5:30pm
Race Starts: 6:30pm with the walk starting immediately after
EXPOsed Afterparty:  Starts as soon as the first runner crosses the finish line

In the Hello Cool World spirit of 'multi-causing' a term coined last year by Lizzy & David, we're sharing our table with our fabulous Immunity Advocates we met creating the content for ImmunizeBC's new campaign - IHaveImmunity.com. Pictured in our banner are Audra and her daughter Alexandria who are making an appearance today at our info table! You can also watch the video we made of their familiy's story on the site.

Hello Cool World is proud to have worked on both campaigns and to make the link between Mothers and Daughters. Moms need regular Paps to protect their health, but now there is a vaccine that will protect their daughters against HPV, the cause of cervical cancer.
