Welcome Wagon + Announcement
From Guest Blogger Maria Martin
Hi everyone!
My name is Maria Martin and I am a new intern at Hello Cool World
headquarters. Similar to my predecessor, Linh Tra, I, too, am a
Nursing student at Vancouver Community College. I am in my fourth year
and currently doing my public health clinical rotation. I am doing a
project for HCW about health promotion as part of my clinical so stay
tuned and curious.
Hello Cool World team will be at the Community Health Associates
Meeting on March 12-14. We are invited to the conference to display
our work with First Nations on health promotions so come by our table
to chat, check out our portfolio, or be part of our live broadcast. We
will be at the helm of the social media component, tweeting and
blogging live. Follow us on Twitter (#CDC2013, #FNHealth) Facebook, or on our site.
We are also doing interviews so this is an opportunity to plug your
work or projects and meet the Hello Cool World team. Anyone attending
feel free to come by our table to learn more about whom we are, what
we do, and what Hello Cool World can do for you or your organizations.
Let’s connect and stay cool. MM
Check out more about Hello Cool World Media projects here.

It's TODAY! Looking forward to being at our LACE Campaign table as part of the "EXPOsed" event at the Underwear Affair to cheer on our LACE OFF team of Michelle, Lizzy and Carmen. Here's Michelle sporting one of our LACE team shirts! C'mon down and check out our table. (Rumour has it there may be doughnuts!)

Where: Seaforth Armoury, Burrard Street at West 1st Ave.
Exposed 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Race Starts: 6:30pm with the walk starting immediately after
EXPOsed Afterparty: Starts as soon as the first runner crosses the finish line
In the Hello Cool World spirit of 'multi-causing' a term coined last year by Lizzy & David, we're sharing our table with our fabulous Immunity Advocates we met creating the content for ImmunizeBC's new campaign - IHaveImmunity.com. Pictured in our banner are Audra and her daughter Alexandria who are making an appearance today at our info table! You can also watch the video we made of their familiy's story on the site.

Hello Cool World is proud to have worked on both campaigns and to make the link between Mothers and Daughters. Moms need regular Paps to protect their health, but now there is a vaccine that will protect their daughters against HPV, the cause of cervical cancer.

There is so much going on I hardly know where to start... First here's a sneak peek at our new campaign for ImmunizeBC. These have not even been sent to print yet, so this is Hello Cool World insiders first glance at our Zoom ads launching later in April. During the past two months our photographer Nancy Bleck has photographed over 40 real people whose stories will soon be seen on the new ImmunizeBC website.
And that's not all, April is off and running. First off: Our #4Eva movement for organ donation PSA for BC Transplant is now airing on TV! Watch for news on this campaign soon. You can see it on 65RedRoses.com. And next week LACE is in again for spring, this time we will be at Vancouver Fashion Week. Fashion Week is followed by Organ Donation Week then Immunization Awareness Week, and then there's the Opt Ready For Pleasure Gala -- overlapping with Hot Docs and DOXA where we are community partners on the world premiere of Raw Opium...I'm out of breath... read on!

The Hello Cool World team finished our last photo and video shoot this weekend for the I Have Immunity campaign. I didn't take any behind-the-scenes photos at the shoot, but here's Bella at our post-shoot outing to The Reef.
We had such a great weekend with all our participants- it was wonderful to work with more real families (some of whom were lovely enough to drive in from Chiliwack and Squamish) and talk to them about health and immunity.
Michelle is a freelance writer and anthropologist with a Master of Public Health from UBC. Her passions are promoting health and building community. She's worked in grassroots community organizations in Vancouver, Victoria and Oceania.
