Radiant City in Canadian Theatres Now!

Radiant City opened last week in Toronto and Calgary. It opens this Friday in Vancouver for ONE WEEK ONLY. So don't delay... I think it is a very fine film! Here's what my pal and hellocoolworld.com cohort Mark Achbar (co-director, producer of The Corporation) thinks about the film:
Last fall, I found myself on a Jury for the NFB Award For Best Documentary Feature at the Vancouver International Film Festival. The festival showed a total of 92 feature documentaries. Fortunately the field was narrowed to 12 by a pre-selection committee. Our critera was "excellence, relevance and innovation." We gave a Special Jury Award to Radiant City "For its innovative narrative strategies to engage, amuse, and enlighten".
It's not every day that the documentary form is stretched to the snapping point. Gary Burns pulls it off with style, grace and humour. He comes at his subject from such an obtuse angle you don't even recognize his strategy till it's too late. I can't say more without being a spoiler, but it's a masterfully constructed, thought-provoking ride.
