LACE Campaign: Take care of what's inside!

This is the second year LACE Campaign has been the hub of action in BC.  Once again, we at  Hello Cool World are working with BC Cancer Agency to promote Pap testing—two years ago we helped co-create LACE Campaign for their Cervical Cancer Screening Program. Together we have just launched a handy new clinic finding tool which makes it oh-so-easy for BC clinics to sign up to offer services during Pap Awareness Week, and for women to find nearby clinics.

Any women due for a Pap can go to a participating clinic even if she is not a regular patient. There are details on individual clinic hours, female health care provider availability, and whether Paps are available by drop in or appointment at: LACEcampaign.com/findaclinic

We are really excited about this year's campaign as we have more clinics, more volunteers and more action happening around the province! For the first time, campaign materials, phone info lines, and clinics are all providing services in languages other than English, including Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.

There are lots of lovely LACE materials to spread the word, and you can also promote us via Facebook and Twitter. See you online for #Pap11!

You can also sign up to access the press kit for more information on BC Cancer Agency, and this year's campaign.

Find a clinic near you!

Health promotion is important to us at Hello Cool World, and we recently hosted a mashup that featured LACE Campaign as part of Social Media Week Vancouver (the conversation is still going at #SMWhealth).

In addition to our work with BC Cancer Agency we are working with Immunize BC, UBC Nursing PhD candidate Cindy Masaro, Options for Sexual Health, Chee Mamuk, several programs at the BC Centre for Disease Control, as well as with Vancouver Coastal Health and the Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users (VANDU) on a harm reduction video.

We have also been working to promote dialogue around harm reduction and drug policy through the films Bevel Up, and Raw Opium, and around sexual health with the films Orgasm Inc. and Secrets.

There are similar Pap Weeks going on across Canada, but currently LACE Campaign is only running in BC. If you are looking for a clinic outside BC, please visit the Federation of Medical Women of Canada's list of clinics.
