LACE at the UBC Sexual Health Fair!

It's been a fun week of outreach during Pap Awareness Week-- we want to make sure every woman knows where she can get her Pap, which means we've been tweeting, posting on Facebook, emailing, radio interviewing and attending events! Including the UBC Sexual Health Fair last night, hosted in Marine Drive Residence.
Bella, Christine and I were especially excited for this event-- we always like talking with women about cervical health, but this event promised banana splits and baked goods. And they delivered! Our apologies to any passersby who were startled by our sugar highs! We were also impressed by the other info fair tables- including the Know Your Status campaign, which encourages students to learn their HIV status. Bella and I both took rapid HIV tests (the results appear in under 30 seconds! It's amazing!) and everyone we spoke to was lovely and knowledgable and passionate about health promotion. There were also booths with suggestive cookies (I'll let you use your imagination), facts about wellness, information about healthy relationships, and sex toys-- plus a panel of sexperts answering questions from attendees!
Our volunteers in Burnaby also put on a speed dating event last night at Professor Mugs Pub at the BCIT campus. We're excited to hear from them how it goes! It was so great to talk with the students last night about Paps, let them know where they could get tested and what to expect (Bella is a recent expert!) and provide them with some information to take away! We hope that despite the sugar buzz they walked away with equipped with some new knowledge about Paps and cervical health- and a pretty LACE lipbalm too :)
