WORLD AIDS DAY: REMEMBER TO PLAY SAFE!

As we work on the new video for Chee Mamuk (STI Division of the BC Centre for Disease Control) with youth from the Sto:lo Nation (and a few others) I am feeling very privileged to get to work with such great people on projects that I really believe will have an impact. Don't Stress the Tests is an excerpt of the video we did last year with youth in Chemainus.
Later this month we will be launching "Strong Path" at a community event with the Sto:lo Nation.
In a different corner of the STI division we are also working with the film Bevel Up. (directed by master-story teller Nettie Wild). Bevel Up follows the team of street nurses in Vancouver's downtown East side as they work with drug users, most of whom are also homeless.
These projects represent two sides of the same specturm: working with youth around prevention of STIs and promotion of healthy choices; and working with those who are already facing issues of addiction, poverty and more -- to offer them ways to make healthier choices. To get tested, to get treatment, and to find some digniity and hope in the midst of a situation many find hopeless.
