Project Management at #STRONG2013

By David Ng

The #STRONG2013 conference is ending tomorrow, but today will be our final day being here twittering and social media-ing.

The next two days will be project management workshops with Toby Pascal.  In her interview with Hello Cool World, Toby spoke about how project management permeates all levels of our lives - when we want to get anything done, we have to consider how to manage the project!

I liked the way that Toby related this broad topic (and skill) of project management, to the grassroots communities.  She talked about how to manage different components of a project properly to ensure that it gets executed.  For small First Nations communities who may want to do a project such as build a daycare, or cultural centre, these components of project management apply to nearly every project a community endeavors.

As I reflect on the past 4 days here at #STRONG2013, I commend the organizers for their comprehensive, well rounded structure of the conference.  From specific skills such as GIS training and project management, to broader technologies like aerospace industries, #STRONG2013 really captured many useful topics that I believe will make a huge impact in communities in the future.

Kudos!
