May Day! May Day! Don't forget Women's work...

By Katherine Dodds

OTTAWA, TORONTO, VANCOUVER

As the saying goes, “Every mother is a working mother!” On May Day or International Workers’ Day, with Inter Pares we are hitting the streets in Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto as part of the build-up to our own Mother’s Day campaign. we’ll be handing out fair trade carnations in solidarity with workers – and all our working mothers, paid or unpaid – letting passersby in on a little-known secret: Mother’s Day was born from the inspiring activism of women working for peace and justice going back over 150 years.

Along with volunteers, Sam will be on the streets of Ottawa, Colette in Toronto, and Kat and Sandy in Vancouver. If you want to be part of our Fair Trade Carnation giveaway - contact us at:

To find more about the campaign (and check out our Feminist Heritage Minute) go to TakeBackTheDay.ca

And thank you to Florimex Vancouver Inc. for donating the Fair Trade Certified carnations for our Vancouver giveaway!

Stay tuned to find out where we will be on May Day in each city!!
