Katherine Dodds
If you act now, you might still be able to get a ticket to Symphony for Smiles, Notes of Compassion’s Benefit concert for Health For Humanity featuring musicians of the VSO, Maestro Bramwell Tovey, with renowned pianists Jon Kimura Parker and Ian Parker. MC Bill Richardson. Last we heard there were less than 50 tickets left, so if this is your cup of tea click here now! The concert is this Sunday, October 25, at the Chan Centre.

If you don’t get to go, we still wanted to send this email to encourage our members to check out the work of this small not-for-profit that we’ve been so thrilled to be working with. Health for Humanity is a Canadian volunteer-run organization that provides health services and education to those in need in the world’s developing regions. We’ve been doing their organizational branding and concert promo and some short promotional videos for them.
They can be found online at www.H4H.ca, on Facebook, and on twitter @H_4_H. Join their mail list, and follow what they are up to as they head to their next surgical mission to Guatemala in November.
Besides the surgical missions they are most known for, the fine folks of H4H are embarking on some cool new projects in Guatemala that take on more long-term solutions to health issues communities face. For example supplying safe woods stoves for homes, water filtration systems for families, scholarships to keep kids in school, and innovative methods of conveying health information such as popular theatre to prevent HIV/STIs.
Below is a bit more info about H4H, Hope to see you at the concert!

About Health For Humanity
Health Matters For Everyone
“Supporting community-identified health care projects can have an impact on hundreds of people, in many communities. The potential to make a huge difference, with a modest budget, is exciting.”– Cindy Masaro, co-founder Health For Humanity
“Treating one patient has an impact on that person, their family and their community. To see this impact is very rewarding.” – Dr. Don Fitzpatrick, plastic surgeon
“The most important thing to me is that we don’t just show up and then leave. Instead, we work with local organizations to create health care services that will benefit people long after our mission has ended. To me, that’s what this work is all about.” – Cheryl Davies, Health for Humanity team leader
Everyone Matters. Infrastructure Matters. Education Matters.
At Health For Humanity we believe everyone has a right to health care, and that health care means much more than only treating illness or disability. Our vision is to work with communities to provide the best possible health care in places where there is a need, and together promote health and prevent disease through education and infrastructure projects.
Since 2001 Health for Humanity has sent surgical teams to developing countries. In addition to performing surgeries and providing training for local professionals, we also supply much-needed equipment, medications and supplies to these areas. We are also collaborating with local organizations to develop health care programs that are based on needs identified by the communities themselves and that are capacity building and sustainable.
The right to live in a healthy environment.
The right to health care, medical supplies and education.
The right to clean water.
Shouldn’t everyone have these rights?
These are basic rights—right? What we are trying to do is make sure these rights are in place for everyone, everywhere. If you’d like to help us do this, we’d love to hear from you.
