This project has been in the making since the summer. Good Company's multi-media team, along with WAVAW (Women Against Violence Against Women) worked with youth in Vancouver and Haisla Nation youth in Kitamaat Village (Northern BC.) to explore issues of gender stereotypes and how they contribute to violence in relationships.

Lots of great ideas came out of these workshops and the youth teams' videos will be completed to launch in the spring.

This first animation was inspired by the Vancouver group's fondness for the TV show "MYthbusters" -- this time, the myths we are busting are gender stereotypes. Thanks to OPT (Options for Sexual Health) who dedicated their February newsletter to related topics and inserted our full colour four-page comic into the newsletter. In this comic are two more stories -- "Hot/Not" explores decision making in a party scene, and "What's the Score" (inspired by an idea by Sonny one of the Kitamaat Village) which looks at what can be behind innappropriate aggression -- this time from a "sore winner" after a basketball game who can't understand why his friend who lost the game is in such a good mood. All the teens involved in the project appear as comic-style characters in the three stories.
