Women Against Violence Against Women

WAVAW is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that has been providing sexual assault support services to women 14 years of age and older, in Greater Vancouver for 26 years. We are open and accessible to all women survivors of violence. We operate within a feminist and anti-oppression framework, and are committed to non-violence.

Equality Rules

An interactive website with animation, scenarios and polls, split into sections for kids and teens. Learn about respect, equality between boys and girls, and building better friendships.

RePlay: Finding Zoe

Online videogame for youth aged 8 to 14 to promote healthy, equal relationships and challenge gender-based violence. Two teens search for their good friend Zoe after hearing worrisome rumours that lead them to believe she’s in an abusive relationship.

Teen Relationships

US site for teens about dating violence featuring a live chat room where teens can speak to other teens and trained counsellors. Is your relationship healthy? Online quiz to find out.

Violence Intervention Project

Ontario project that engages and mobilizes youth around school and community safety. Features poetry & artwork, and has a huge list of links including a section on Dating Violence, Woman Abuse, Youth Violence.

EDUCATORS

VOX on TVOntario

Each week journey into an Ontario high school for a live panel of young people and guest experts hashing out the issues of the day. Stuff like gun violence, dating double standards, teen activism, and hiphop hypocrisy. Episodes available online and some have downloadable teacher resources.

White Ribbon Campaign

Started in Canada in 1991, the White Ribbon Campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women. Their Education and Action Kit can be purchased online for $30 and has versions for Secondary students and Middle/Junior High students. Sample in-class exercises available free.

Michael Kaufman

A consultant on gender issues and founder of the White Ribbon Campaign. Articles and books targeted to men and boys available online.
