Outreach

Public education around sexual assault and issues related to gendered violence is an important component of WAVAW’s feminist mission for the prevention and eradication of all forms of violence against women. Our skilled WAVAW facilitators are trained to provide workshops and resources to interested organizations and groups seeking to expand their knowledge about violence against women from a feminist, anti-oppression perspective.

Our educational outreach services are great for any variety of groups, including:

  • community youth groups
  • youth support groups
  • high school, university or college classrooms
  • community centres
  • aboriginal organizations

As a frontline grassroots organization, we base our perspectives on our collective years of experience in listening to women, providing support and information to survivors of sexual violence, and working with youth. We gather information from a variety of local, provincial, and national sources, including government and non-government reports, books, and newsletters on legal, political, and social issues affecting women and youth.

We work with your organization to accommodate your specific goals and desired outcomes. We are available for:

  • interactive workshops
  • informational tables and/or booths
  • speaks and/or talks
  • community support and partnerships

For more information about our community involvement, or to book us for a workshop or talk, please email us or call our office Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm, at 604.255.6228, ext 228. We look forward to hearing about opportunities to work with you!
