STAND TRUE

In January 2007, a group of 12 Haisla Nation youth from Kitamaat Village spent 3 days learning about HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), healthy sexuality, condom use, how to create positive messaging, and how to use cameras and other film equipment. The youth were asked to identify issues they face and come up with their own solutions. They chose to address rumors and how they can “Stand True” in their sexual health decisions.

Stand True stars attended the community launch of the DVD where a guest speaker shared her story of living with HIV. It was a night of celebration, awareness, and culture with drumming and dancing by the Haisla community.
