Feedback from Circles of Understanding Elder/ Youth Advisory Group Participants Mar. 28, 2012
Your overall experience with the COU Project?
Positive. Highly rewarding, emotionally enriching and hugely spiritual experience and spiritually strengthening. One of the best experiences in relationship-building and learning environment.
Being with the COU project was very rewarding working with the elders and youth.
My experience with the Circles of Understanding has been amazing.
The group started quite briskly, even though there was a few weeks getting to know each other. I t seemed that we jumped into it abit. But in hindsight a lot of info and creating took place. I liked the process I was involved in.
Gained facilitation skills. New friends.
The experience was worth all effort.
What was the best part of the COU experience?
Feeling connected to others that share the same experience and same feelings as I do about understanding where I come from. Learning from the Elders and learning from the youth.
The best part of the COU was the circles when everyone shared about themselves.
Meeting other people that are like me and want the things I want.
Stepping out of my personal shell and sharing time listening to others speak openly. Seeing smiling faces in a healthy environment, also I had a great time in the photo shoot. Oh, the money helped pay some bills too. Thank you so much for this whole opportunity to meet new individuals.
Introductions. Talking Circles.
Having support.
What would have made the experience better?
The time spent together should have been supported to continue. Continued gathering and opportunities to build and keep a strong foundation that can carry on. Create more opportunities for others to take part in the experience and then be able to spread and share further this type of work.
To hear more about the elders and youth and where they came from. I find it interesting in hearing about other cultures and healing in their area.
Some of the things we did and talked about.
Skype, LOL.
If everybody showed up to every meeting.
More time.
What would you consider best next steps for Circles of Understanding?
To continue and allow more time for the project – to grow and gain momentum in the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community.
To continue to reach out to help others who need to join our workshops of healing.
To give workshops to others.
Outreach. More meetings.
Sharing with others.
