Children of the Street Society – Taking Care of Ourselves, Taking Care of Others
|
Taking Care of Ourselves, Taking Care of Others (TCO²) is a unique and empowering interactive workshop designed and delivered by youth, for youth about preventing sexual exploitation. Using monologues, role-plays and engaging activities, a group of three young adult facilitators involve participants in a meaningful and interactive discussion of what sexual exploitation is, who is involved, and how to prevent it from happening.
The workshop evolves each year in order to addresses current information on sexual exploitation including: recruitment tactics, warning signs of exploitation, domestic trafficking, violence and drugs in the sex trade, exploitation over the Internet, non-commercial forms of exploitation, males in the sex trade, barriers to exiting the sex trade, community resources, and how to get help.
Workshops are interactive and customized to provide information most relevant to each school or community. Workshops are age appropriate and offered to children and youth ages 11 to 18, including students, alternate programs, youth groups, and other youth audiences.

McCreary Centre Society
|
The McCreary Centre Society is a small non-profit organization concerned with the health of young people in British Columbia. Since 1977 McCreary has conducted community-based research and projects addressing current youth health issues. The society takes its name from the late Dr. J.F. McCreary, a pediatrician and medical administrator, whose leadership in promoting inter-professional teaching and multi-disciplinary approaches in health care set a standard that the society seeks to emulate.
Our mission is to foster wider understanding of the importance of youth health, increase knowledge about youth health needs and issues, promote a continuing commitment to youth health issues, and initiate and implement innovative projects which directly address unmet health needs of young people.

|
PEERS Vancouver (Prostitutes Empowerment Education Resource Society) is a non-profit society established by ex-sex workers and community supporters. We are dedicated to the empowerment, education and support of sex workers. We respect those involved in the sex industry and work to improve their safety and working conditions. We assist individuals who desire to leave the sex industry and strive to increase public understanding.
PEERS Vancouver was founded in October 2001 by two former PEERS Victoria employees. We are located in Vancouver, with clients who come from a range of communities within the Greater Vancouver and surrounding areas. Since services became available in August 2002 we have served over 350 men, women and youth per year who have a history of sex work.
PEERS Vancouver currently employs a team of 9 staff members and offers a supportive, comprehensive exiting program to assist individuals who have made the decision to exit from sex work. Our program is designed to address the unique challenges and barriers faced when seeking alternate employment. We maintain a grass-roots, client centered approach to the counselling and employment services we offer.
