The Shock Doctrine Redux

THE SHOCK DOCTRINE CAMPAIGN WRAPS… FOR NOW

Meticulously researched and backed up by four years spent visiting disaster zones and speaking directly to the people most affected, The Shock Doctrine is an amazing journalistic accomplishment. Pulling no punches, it takes on powerful corporate lobbies, influential think tanks and entrenched world views about the wonders of unfettered capitalism and the myth of trickle-down economics. It digs deep to connect all the dots and get to the root of problems gnawing away at our societies.

Fundamentally, The Shock Doctrine is not about disasters or capitalism, but about democracy and the inevitable results of wresting away power and control from citizen hands. It provides a terrifying glimpse into an all too possible future of a disaster-prone world where the wealthy buy their way out and the less fortunate are left behind. But it is also hopeful noting shock wears off, societies reorient and reconstruct, and there is a foundation of resilience built into our collective histories to draw upon. Our campaign may be ending, but shock resistance is just beginning.
