Campaign Updates & Action

by Katherine Dodds

CAMPAIGN 4 CORPORATE HARM REDUCTION

In the coming months we are going to be doing some updates to TheCorporation.com site, including a blog, in order to be more useful for networking and engaging our audience -- AKA you! We continue to look for ways to use the film as a tool for social change, as well as for partners in this work.

Center for Social MediaAfter attending the Making Media That Matters Conference last February in Washington, DC, I’m excited to say that we are exploring a partnership with the Center for Social Media at American University. Using the response to the film to date as a case study, our hope is to develop a framework for action and ongoing strategies for audience engagement around issues of corporate harm.

Ultimately what we want to do is to map out what kind of impact the film has had so far, do some surveys to find out more about what our members care about and want to do about corporate harm, draw in fans of the film who may not yet have joined us as members, and with the right strategic partners whether individuals or organizations, finally produce the framework for action that will in turn lead to an actual campaign to 'rewrite, regulate, and reform' the corporation alongside these partners. In the meantime, we continue to use our network to co-promote worthy projects and campaigns that our partners and friends are involved in. And we thank you for your support! Right now, all proceeds from our webstore, direct donations to the C4CHR, and 5% of sales of The Corporation on iTunes (when you click on our link) go to support this work.

Think Outside the Bottle

Think Outside the Bottle is a campaign by Corporate Accountability International to promote, protect and ensure public funding for our public water systems.

Bottled water corporations are changing the way we all think about water. Bottled water corporations like Coke, Nestlé and Pepsi have manufactured demand for an essential resource that already flows from our taps. They are making people think that the only place to get clean, safe water is from a bottle. But the fact is, bottled water is bad for taxpayers, it’s bad for our public water systems, and it’s bad for the environment. The growth of the bottled water industry threatens the political will to adequately fund public water systems.

We are calling on Coke’s CEO to reveal the sites and sources of their Dasani bottled water brand, and we are in the process of creating a custom online action for your e-zine list members. Here is the link to the action page.
