Tonight's the NIGHT! The Corporation re-launch

By Katherine Dodds

THE CORPORATION 10th ANNIVERSARY FUNDRAISER SCREENING - It all goes down starting at 6pm TONIGHT. Tickets at Eventbrite. Please share! On FacebookTwitter.

We thank Sundance Ceremonial Chief Rueben George, of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation who has agreed to join us to give us a Coast Salish welcome, and say a few words of introduction to the film.

If you plan to buy tickets at the door, it's cash donation only, and come early to guarantee a space! (no one turned away, until we run out of seats!)

If you are not in Vancouver - our crowdfunding campaign on dana.io JUST LAUNCHED!

From the program:

Ten years ago, The Corporation, a feature length documentary by Mark Achbar, Jennifer Abbott and Joel Bakan (with a companion book by Bakan), was a Canadian box office success story, international hit and best-seller. The film stunned audiences around the world with its revelations of an out-of-control business model that mandates the pathological pursuit of profit without regard for anything, or anyone, else.

We hope you enjoy tonight’s public premiere of a new shorter cut of the film. This evening also marks the launch of our crowd funding efforts to get the film free to 1000 schools.

We acknowledge that this event is taking place on unceded Coast Salish Territory – part of the traditional territories of the Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. We are honoured to be here. Huy chexw a (Hoy chook a) – thank you!

His critically acclaimed international hit, The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power (Free Press, 2004), electrified readers around the world and became a bestseller in several countries. Currently he is the subject of a documentary – Fractured Land – being produced by Gen Why Media.

Fiona Rayher is the Artistic Director of Gen Why Media, a production group working to innovate public engagement. She is currently directing and producing the feature documentary, Fractured Land. She frequently speaks at schools and events about engagement through media production and documentary film.

Tara Mahoney is co-founder of Gen Why Media, and  a cultural commentator on generational issues, appearing in the media and as a keynote speaker representing the Generation Y perspective.
