Raw Opium to Premiere at DOXA Film Festival in Vancouver

Raw Opium: Pain, Pleasure, Profits will have its world premiere on Saturday May 7, 2011, as part of the DOXA Documentary Film Festival in Vancouver. The Canadian film, produced in 2010 by Robert Lang of Kensington Communications Inc. and directed by Peter Findlay runs 83 minutes and will play at noon on Saturday at the Pacific Cinémathèque in Vancouver.

Director, Peter Findlay will be in attendance, and following the screening a discussion will take place with Rebecca Ambrose, the owner of a medicinal cannabis seed store, and Dr. Ronald Joe, the Medical Manager for Inner City Addiction, Vancouver Coastal Health, which is administering InSite (the safe injection site, featured in Raw Opium) and other facilities.

With the federal election behind us and InSite's threat of closure forthcoming, it seems like there has never been a better time for a film and a debate on drug policy in Canada.
