I, Fembot

A documentary by Katherine Dodds

I, Fembot is seeking support to be realized as both a documentary and web project. We are in a second phase of development on this film.

Thanks to Mark Achbar and his Telefilm envelope we had an first phase amazing development run. We came so close to having an international co-production with over a  million budget. Exec Producer Achbar was willing to put in 750K to this project, however, without that Canadian broadcaster to come on board, that puzzle peice did not fall into place and we are now seeking new development and production financing to realize this film. 

My passion for this project has not waned. However, my vision for it is shifting as I see the materials being suited for both a documentary, and ongoing webisodes that keep in touch with all the latest in robotics and fembotics! 

PROJECT HISTORY

We pitched our project for the first time in Toronto at Hot Docs in 2008! After a great week of feedback (as this is the first time we "went public" with the project, we came away with interest from a distributor and a broadcaster. After attending the Sunny Side of the Docs market in La Rochelle France - we had interest from Film Transit -- International documentary sales agents, a potential French co-pro partner and the opportunity to pitch the film to Arte.  Thank you to BC Film for providing support through the Passports to Markets program.

We completed our development phase with Telefilm in August of 2008.
