Filmmaker Bios

Nimisha Mukerji is an award-winning director based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her debut feature “65_RedRoses” received critical acclaim and was one of the first official selections for Oprah Winfrey’s Documentary Club on OWN. The film won numerous awards including the 2010 Banff World Television Award for Best Canadian Program following its broadcast premiere on CBC’s The Passionate Eye. For her work on the film Nimisha was awarded the 2009 Artistic Merit Award from Women in Film Vancouver, the 2010 Don Haig Award at Hot Docs International Film Festival as well as garnering a 2010 Gemini nomination for Best Direction in a Documentary Program (Canada’s version of the Emmys).

Nimisha’s narrative short films have screened internationally and her documentary short The Coconut won Omni’s Cultural Diversity Award and Super Channel’s 2010 Documentary Award. In addition to directing for reality television, Nimisha is currently completing a feature documentary entitled “Blood Relative” for the Knowledge Network. Philip Lyall is a Gemini nominated Canadian producer and director. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Film Production Program where he was mentored by Academy Award winning documentary filmmaker John Zaritsky. Philip’s credits include the award-winning feature documentary “65_RedRoses” (producer/director). The documentary played in festivals and TV markets around the world and most notably was selected as part of the Oprah Winfrey Documentary Club on the OWN Network.

Philip recently was a story producer/writer on SLICE networks hit reality show “Party Mamas” and the hotly anticipated new series “Real Housewives of Vancouver.”

Mike Rae (Cinematographer) is a University of British Columbia film school graduate whose credits as a cinematographer include both documentary film (“65_RedRoses” & “Love Shines”) and reality television (“Crash Test Mommy”). He is an award-winning filmmaker, receiving recognition for best short film and best sound design on his first production, “Merge.” He has mentored under Academy Award winning director John Zaritsky and traveled around the world filming on a variety of productions. “65_Red Roses” is his debut feature length documentary as a director of photography.
