Mandy GobleWith our Edmonton screening coming up this Sunday May 27th, a few dedicated volunteers have been promoting the event. We are extremely grateful for their hard work!

Last week we profiled Michelle Root. Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandy Goble, who along with Michelle spent a good part of her May long weekend putting up 65_RedRoses posters around the city and U of A campus. If you see any of the posters in your neighbourhood, please snap a photo and post it to our Facebook Page or email it to outreach@65RedRoses.com and we’ll add it to our album.

And now for our interview with Mandy Goble aka @missmandygoble . . .

Tell me a little bit about yourself, if you don’t mind sharing :)

I am a 28 year old student. I love yoga, green tea and my family & friends. I have a supportive boyfriend and i love volunteering in my spare time. I also volunteer at a rehab hospital in the city and with the Breast Cancer Foundation.

How did you first hear about 65_RedRoses?

I am in a medical program and one of my profs showed us this movie. After watching the film I went home and researched the movie and her blog. Then I signed up to volunteer 😀

Did you know Eva personally or read her Livejournal? If so, what was your connection to her?

A good friend of mine, knew Eva right before her death. She would tell me about these amazing stories of this girl named Eva with CF and it wasn’t until I started to promote the film that she messaged me on Facebook to let me know that was the Eva she always talked about. I also started reading Eva’s LiveJournal.

How did watching the film make you feel about Eva?

I think Eva is a very strong, amazing person. She had so much love and was positive all the time. Even when she`s in the hospital getting her sinuses cleaned, she is still positive.

How are you helping with the campaign?

I’m helping to promote the May 27 screening in Edmonton. I also registered as an organ donor and now encourage everyone I know to do the same. I tweeted about the OWN broadcast, and started Facebook Event for the screening in Edmonton.

What do you hope the 65_RedRoses campaign will achieve?

I hope it helps get the word out about how important it is to become an organ donor, and to help spread the word about CF. Also to get Eva`s story around the world and make sure that one day CF stands for Cure Found.

We’re thrilled to have Mandy on our volunteer team and if you’re planning on going to the Edmonton screening this Sunday, we hope you’ll say hi to her, Michelle and Myranda. Michelle & Mandy will be at the table selling DVDs and 65_RedRoses campaign materials and Myranda will be the one with the camera – so be sure to get her to snap your pic!

Feeling inspired? Here are a few things you can do to help promote the campaign and our upcoming screening:

Join the 65_RedRoses Facebook Page and RSVP for the Edmonton event.

Follow us on Twitter and tweet about how Eva’s story has touched you. Be sure to include @65_redroses so we can RT!

Download our event poster (PDF) or flyer (PDF) and hand them out at work, school or your favorite local hangout.

And, if you’d like to join the 65_RedRoses #4Eva Campaign, please email us, or fill out our volunteer form.
